Sedges are attractive and effective species for living walls.
VGS....A New Approach to Sustainable Living Walls
Vertical Growing Systems (VGS) is an Austin, TX based manufacturing company specializing in green wall products.
Our vision is to provide a simple, cost-effective, and resource conserving module to the market which enables a much wider adoption of living walls in the Texas region and beyond.
A partnership of horticultural and manufacturing technology expertise, VGS has focused on creating systems which are simple to mass-produce and easy to maintain in a wide range of environmental conditions. Plant choices are likewise carefully considered and tested in the highly variable conditions of Central Texas.
VGS on PBS
Pat had a fun and interesting interview on Central Texas Gardener this Summer. We brought along a couple of Ophiphogon panels to show the audience the basic design we are offering. The discussion ranged from basic cultivation topics to application options made possible with the panel technology. Tom Spencer, the host, asked good questions and shared some of the excitement we have had about new options created by gardening vertically with regulated closed loop irrigation. Thanks Tom, and the whole team at KLRU for a great afternoon!
VGS Returns to SXSW Eco!
We are excited to participate at SXSW Eco 2014 with a booth (#226) in the Exhibition Hall. We will be displaying some of our latest panels and allowing visitors to see up close, the technology we hope to distribute throughout the State and beyond. We will also be available for questions about product options, installation requirements, future enhancements, and application opportunities. If you’re able to attend, please stop by and enjoy the beauty of lush vertical plant communities inside a convention center hall!
VGS Designs First Vertical Backyard Farm
We’re scheduled to deliver our first order of edible plant panels this Fall. The nearly 100 square foot system will include a wide variety of cool season vegetables and herbs including spinach, Swiss chard, kale, snow peas, chives, onions, snap peas, mints, oregano, and many other varieties of lettuce and greens. The farm represents an efficient and small footprint option for food production on a small scale with the added benefit of convenient conversion to new crops when the weather heats up. We simply swap panels with new crops ready for harvest. We look forward to serving the Austin food community with this exciting new concept!
